My Testimony From Distance to Devotion:
I was born into a Catholic family in Pakistan. My father always encouraged my siblings and me to pray. We are seven children—three brothers and four sisters—and all of them obeyed his instructions. But I didn’t. For four or five years, I never prayed, not even once. I was far from Jesus Christ and had fallen deep into sin. I became addicted to gambling, got involved in other bad activities, and even stole money from my father’s wallet.
During that time, I liked a girl who often went to a nearby church. In our culture, you
can’t just talk to girls on the street, so I never spoke to her. But one day, I saw her
heading to church and decided to follow her. When I entered, a large prayer meeting
was happening. I sat in the last row. A popular worship song began, and I started
singing along.
Something strange and beautiful happened—I didn’t understand it at first. My heart
was jumping with joy, and tears began streaming down my face. I had never felt
anything like it before: crying but feeling happy at the same time. That moment
changed me.
When I got home, I kept thinking about that feeling and decided I wanted to
experience it again. From that day forward, I promised to start my mornings with
prayer and never begin a day without reading the Word of God. As I read the Bible,
certain verses about baptism began to stir my heart.
I told my parents, “Listen to what the Bible says! I want to be baptized.” But they
laughed. My friends mocked me too, saying, “You sin every day—if you get baptized,
your punishment will be worse!” Their words confused me, but I had no one to guide
me.
So, I decided to fast and pray, asking God Himself to teach me.
The First Dream:
One night during my fasting, God gave me a dream.
I saw a large room that had been closed for many years. It was completely dark, and I
had no light. Then I heard God’s voice:
"Mehtab, this is not a room—this is your heart. It has been closed for many years. You
must take water baptism, and after that, I will guide you in removing what does not
belong there."
When I woke up, I thanked Jesus for His guidance. I promised that no matter who
opposed me, I would be baptized.
The Second Dream:
The next day, while fasting, I prayed, “God, please melt my family’s hearts so they
too will desire baptism.” That night, God spoke again:
"Your family will take water baptism with you, on the same day."
At first, I doubted—how could this be? My parents had just told me not to get
baptized, and now they would join me?
The Miracle:
A few weeks later, I invited a pastor from a big city to our home to share the Word of
God with my family about baptism. That evening, my whole family gathered as he
preached. God touched their hearts.
It was 2 AM in November—the coldest month of the year. In our area, we don’t have
baptismal pools; we use a nearby lake. The pastor suggested we could wait three or
four days to arrange warm water. But my family said, “No, we will take water baptism
right now. Our God can warm the water!”
So that night, on November 4th, 2021, at 2 AM, my entire family and I were baptized
together in that cold lake. It was the greatest day of my life—a fulfillment of the
dreams and promises God had given me.
About us:
Lights of Christ Ministry is a Christ-centered (Non-Profit Organization) ministry based in Pakistan, called to bring hope
where there is hopelessness and light where there is darkness. Our mission is both urgent and
simple: to share the love of Jesus Christ through the Word of God, acts of service, and
empowering the most vulnerable in our communities.
How It All Began:
Our journey began with a small step of faith, spurred by the many struggles we saw around us:
1: Women and widows living without support, trapped in pain and a loss of dignity.
2: Children in remote villages who had never heard the name of Jesus, drifting away from
the faith due to a lack of guidance.
3: Families in unreached areas, waiting desperately for someone to bring the message of
salvation.
God placed a burden on our hearts to act. With prayer, faith, and limited resources, we began
reaching out—one child, one widow, one village at a time. From these small beginnings, God
has expanded our work, and today, Lights of Christ Ministry is making an enduring impact
across Pakistan.
Who We Are Today:
By God's grace, we have become a beacon of hope in many lives. We are a small, faithful team
dedicated to our calling, and our ministry has grown to include the following:
1: Preaching the Gospel: Traveling to unreached villages and areas like the brick kiln communities, where the Gospel has never been shared, bringing the hope of Christ to those in desperate need.
2: Audio Bibles: Distributing audio Bibles to people in remote areas and to those who cannot read, enabling them to hear God's Word in their native language.
3: Flood Relief Efforts: Providing aid to those affected by devastating floods, offering food, shelter, and hope in times of extreme hardship.
4: Helping the Persecuted: Standing with those who face persecution for their faith, offering them spiritual and practical support to endure and grow in Christ.
5: Freeing People from Slavery: Working to liberate individuals from bonded labor in brick kilns and other exploitative environments, providing them with the tools to live in freedom and dignity.
6: Releasing People from Debt: Assisting families who have been trapped in generational debt, offering them relief and a chance to rebuild their lives in Christ.
Though we are not a large organization, every soul matters to us. Every Bible we distribute,
every child we teach, every woman we empower, and every person we help to escape from
bondage is a testament to God's love reaching into the darkest corners of Pakistan.
Our Calling:
Our calling is deeply rooted in the Great Commission: “Go into all the world and preach the
gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15). We believe Pakistan is a key part of this mission field, and
despite the many challenges, we are confident that the opportunities are greater, because the
harvest is plentiful.
Through God’s strength and provision, we are committed to bringing hope, healing, and light to
the people of Pakistan. We are working tirelessly to meet the urgent needs of the oppressed, the
hungry, the persecuted, and the lost.
Join Us:
We invite you to stand with us in prayer, partnership, and support. Together, we can bring hope
to the hopeless, freedom to the enslaved, healing to the broken, and salvation to the lost.
With your help, we can continue to be a light in this nation, changing lives and spreading the
message of Jesus Christ one person at a time.
